Mykal Black

Mike Mulure, more commonly known as ‘Mykal Black’, is a film-maker, musician, father, mentor, and above all, a social entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of independent media production company,Blackboy Entertainment, a media consulting company that deals in the business of audio-visual productions, strategic communications and corporate branding.

He is also the founder of Blackboy Media Lab, a non-profit organisation that runs various mentorship programs in media, arts, entertainment and tech, all with the aim of building the capacity of young people. Blackboy focuses on young men and women coming from disadvantaged backgrounds and slum areas, leading them to take up opportunities within the creative industry. Their interventions target the reduction of unemployment among Kenyan youth through training, mentorship and networking, as well as encouraging young people to participate in civic engagement.

In Mykal Black’s words, they exist to “realise resilient youthful communities empowered to drive a new era of development, growth and productivity.”
