Deborah Kimathi is the Executive Director of Dignitas, an education development organisation in Kenya. Dignitas uses an innovative training and coaching approach to empower schools and educators in marginalised communities to transform students’ opportunities. “We imagine a world where schools are a vibrant place for all children to develop the skills and strength of character to thrive and succeed.” To date, Dignitas has partnered with 300 schools, 1500 educators, and impacted the learning of 87,000 children.
Dignitas was listed as a finalist for the 2019 and 2020 WISE Awards which celebrate top education innovations from across the globe, and is featured in the HundrED 2020 Global Collection. In response to COVID-19, Dignitas is equipping 300 educators and 30 trainers to keep 12,000 children safe and learning.
Deborah is also a Trustee of UK Charity Raising Futures Kenya, and Country Lead of the Kenya chapter of Regional Education Learning Initiative (RELI) which brings together more than 70 education actors from across the region.
Passionate about the intersection of faith and justice, Deborah also leads the board of Msingi Trust, and serves as an elder in her local church, Lavington Vineyard.
